Ever since Angeli said she will be changing her phone to a Nokia E63, I’ve been secretly wanting it too (well, it’s not a secret now…). I am so wanting it because it is available in red and you can wifi. Wow. And, I just want to get a new toy.

Ms Linux Geekette has been considering it too and, unlike me, doing her research on it. She mentioned after lunch break that she’s having doubts on getting an E63 because its running on Symbian and tend to get virus infested.

“Hmm… Symbian,” I thought to myself and decided to google about Symbian Development tonight.

Sigh… Here I go again. I haven’t started on my personal Android projects and now I’m seriously considering developing on Symbian! Of course I’ll go for Java ME first, maybe Symbian C++ later on… Actually… it’s not really a choice between Symbian/JavaME or Android development. For me, I would like to try both! Hahaha Oh anything to keep me busy and amused. I’ll soon have too much time in my hands. Boo…

I just got the simplest of an Android application running on an emulator on Jasper. Finally! But not after changing the skin from the default HVGA to QVGA-P. And not after waiting for almost 10 minutes… maybe more. It was great it finally worked but that long of a wait time just wouldn’t do when I start experimenting with Android programming. So I guess I really must be upgrading Jasper’s memory… Or maybe hope I’ll get a new laptop this Christmas. ;p

Most of the time, it stopped on a Android text with a blinking cursor.

I resigned to the fact that maybe, my non-success on setting up my Android development environment was indeed due to the fact that this ole’ laptop is not up to par with the needed hardware specs; all this laptop got is a 256mb ram. I already tried uninstalling and re-installing the SDK and my Eclipse IDE. I tried moving it to another directory. The emulator just wouldn’t launch my application.

Sad though that this laptop was able to persist through college Java projects. I was able to run a Java ME from Jasper before! O well, I’ll try all other approach. I’ll let you know once I get this running.

I have finished my downloads last Friday. Save for the Android plug-in for Eclipse, which I got to install sometime Saturday. Unfortunately for me, when I try to launch the emulator, it would not go beyond the textual splash screen reading ‘Android’ appended with a blinking cursor…

I was trying to troubleshoot my development environment last night. Still, nothing. Either Jasper couldn’t handle the hardware requirements to run it or might as well try to re-download all files and re-install them.

Might be the second option. I refuse to give up!
