I love following @jimparedes and @paulocoelho on twitter because they twit the most interesting thoughts in 140 characters. Like the other day, Sir Jim twitted: “If you understand, things are just as they are; if you do not understand, things are just as they are.”

And with one twit like that, my mind visits his words again and again. It got me thinking about it minute after minute after minute…

If ignorance is kinder and truth is hard to handle, why do we still seek answers? Whether you understand or not, things are just as they are anyway. Would it be much better to not understand? To choose ignorance over understanding? To just accept things as they are twisted as it may seem to your still growing psyche.

Understanding truths make things easier to accept. And the pain behind understanding and accepting such truths is all part of it. It is just like your favorite pair of shoes and your growing feet. The truth is your feet are still growing. And your understanding is your favorite pair of shoes. And the pain comes from the truth not being able to fit into your current understanding. So what should you do? Let go of your favorite pair, purchase a new pair (it could still be the same style but in bigger size or another style and a bigger size that still fits your taste), and learn to make your new shoes as your new favorite pair.

You grow and there are certain truths that you encounter everyday which alters you in the most subtle or more obvious ways. You’re never the same today than yesterday no matter how hard you resist to change. So stop resisting and let the change in you be. Just make sure that the change is still a better you and not anyone else.
