			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #c0c0c0;">(I really <em>need</em> all the distraction I could get. I need to be occupied every single moment that I am awake. If you&#8217;re curious to ask why I <em>need</em> to be a busy bee, hmm&#8230; yes, it <em>is </em>something that personal. And I don&#8217;t want <em>anybody</em> asking if I&#8217;m okay, okay? Of course I&#8217;m not. And I don&#8217;t want to talk about it. Not now. Not to anybody but to Beng and Berj. Wow, special. Haha)</span></p>
<p>Finally. After wanting to try this out a couple of years ago (or I think its just last year), I got to try it out with my newest bff&#8217;s last Black Saturday at the UP Diliman Sunken Garden. The sport is actually called Ultimate pala. Frisbee is just a brand of the disc. Actually, I just forced myself with their company haha it was Beng&#8217;s Kuya Sean&#8217;s friend who plays the sport and drilled us through the basics.</p>
<p><span id="more-164"></span>So, Kuya Enteng (forgot his real name but they call him Enteng because he looks like Vic Sotto daw) led us through the stretching. Then he showed us the two basic throws: backhand and forehand. Parang tennis lang. Pati how to catch the disc, pancake style. Then we broke off into pairs then just went through the drills of throwing the disc back and forth.</p>

<p>My throws were directionless and wobbly, weak. Beng&#8217;s were actually good. Berj&#8217;s and Baby&#8217;s were usually too strong but has direction unlike mine. Frustrating. I usually have good enough coordination. We&#8217;ll get there with practice naman daw. They&#8217;re actually encouraging us to join the game already! Ha! I might injure someone if we did join them.</p>
<p>Basta join ako sa Ultimate on Saturday&#8217;s sa UP. Actually there are a lot of other groups practicing Ultimate during weekdays din. May Wednesdays pa daw, around 7PM at the Sunken Garden din.  So far, the Ultimate sites that I know of are the Meralco field, UP Sunken Garden, and the Marine&#8217;s field at The Fort. I&#8217;m never much into team sports, I am anti-social like that, but maybe if get the hang of this soon, this could be my first? Hahaha Anyways, you know me, I easily get excited with novelty but just as easily get bored of it.</p>

<p><span id="more-92"></span>I just saw tbr&#8217;s post on the opening of the registration of <a href="http://www.thenorthface100.ph/">TNF 100</a> and it made me wonder if I can manage it. It will be held in Clark Field Pampanga on May 23-24, 2009.</p>
<p>Maybe I could try to race the 10k then. Let it be my first trail, 10k, and out of Metro Manila race. But I need to train for it. <em>Err&#8230; in such a tight schedule? </em>Now I worry that I&#8217;ll DNF the TNF 100.</p>

<p>I only ran 4 races last year, all 5k&#8217;s. It was nice to note that all those 4 races had entirely different race routes: the Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan at Roxas Blvd, Runnex @ 25 at UP Diliman, KOTR around Bonifacio High Street, and Unicef&#8217;s A Walk on the Child Side at McKinley Hills. For 2009, well, at first I wanted to join 1 race per month but eventually thought it&#8217;ll be better if I just choose what I&#8217;ll join wisely.<span id="more-66"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Fee.</span> See, if I join <span style="font-weight: bold;">1 race per month, it&#8217;ll amount to <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Php 3000</span> </span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Php 3600</span><span style="font-weight: bold;"> for the year</span>, assuming that the usual Metro Manila race now costs <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Php250</span> Php300 <span style="color: #99ccff;">(well, trending shows this will be new average.)</span>. For <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Php 3k</span> Php 3,6, I&#8217;m thinking I can just add it over in an investment of <span style="font-weight: bold;">a good sport&#8217;s watch</span> <span style="color: #99ccff;">(well, someone already gave me one on my 25th birthday. tee hee)</span>.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Route.</span> If it were just basically <span style="font-weight: bold;">the same route</span>, different street turns here, or a couple of uphills and downhills there, <span style="font-weight: bold;">I&#8217;ll most probably would not join that race.</span> If I feel like it, I might probably grab the race map though and run the same race course some other time. Or if it were a non-fundraising run, I&#8217;d probably go as a bandit runner.</p>
<p><span style="font-style: italic;">A bandit runner is just a person who is just too cheap to pay for the race.</span> <img src='http://www.pink-sandbox.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> ) I&#8217;m not sure how the race organizers here handle bandit runners though, I might have to read up first before I try it out. But if it were safe to do just that, I wouldn&#8217;t go to far as to grabbing a drink at the water stations for one. The singlet/finisher shirt, first aid support, race bib, water/sports drink during the race, and all other post race freebies are off limits to a bandit runner, of course.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Cause.</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">It should be a fund-raising run.</span> I&#8217;d join if it were for a good cause. If it were an anniversary running event thing of some group, I&#8217;ll just leave the actual members to join that race. If I feel like there&#8217;ll be a lot of hunks joining the race, I would consider that too. <img src='http://www.pink-sandbox.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> )</p>
<p>I am still up for that <span style="font-weight: bold;">first go on the 10k race</span> though. I should start training for that soon. And of course, I&#8217;m still pondering on that birthday run <span style="color: #99ccff;">(well, no birthday run for me this year.)</span>.</p>
<p>Running for me in 2008 has been fun. I&#8217;m still not crazy for it but I do treasure the alone time during the actual running and good over-all feeling it gives after that 30-60 minute run.</p>
