Stalk Me!

Actually, it's friends only. But hey, why don't you ask? I might be tolerant of new stalkers. ;)\

NBI Clearance at Carriedo Plaza

I decided to not go to work this morning. Gusto ko kasi kunin na yung NBI Clearance ko. I went to POEA yesterday in hopes that I can get it there instead. Unfortunately, it’s for overseas employment lang and seafarers; what I need was for local employment. So off to Carriedo for that.

I rode the MRT to Taft; the LRT Line 1 to Carriedo. Carriedo Plaza is very easy to locate. You can simply ask around.

At the entrance of Carriedo Plaza, you’ll find eager vendors selling sedula (which of course you wouldn’t need; don’t be fooled!) and black pens (which you’ll need; good thing I always keep 1 in my bag.). You’ll go up 2 flights of stairs to get there; actually, it was more of a flight of escalator which is not working and another flight of actual stairs.

You’ll pay P20 for the entrance. Get a form. Fill up the form. Pay for the processing P115 for local employment. Then proceed to data checking. Then quick search which simply means you’ll be checked if you’re a hit that is you have someone with the exact same namesake; or no hit, that is if you’re named fortunately uniquely because it makes things faster. Then image capture wherein to my horror I looked like some criminal, unsmiling and not ready. Then fingerprinting where you can opt to purchase a P2 ink remover aka wet tissue. Registration. And then release!

The whole process was fairly fast so you don’t need to ask for any assistance. Anyway there are banners here and there screaming to you what you’ll need to do next. The only time I get to fall in line a little longer than usual – that is for around 10mins – was during the fingerprinting.

So back onboard LRT and then MRT for my commute back home. Natuwa pa ako sa MRT ride ko because the I sat near the train driver and his door was wide open. He was listening to Eraserhead’s Overdrive and beatboxing along with the song complete hi-hat and drom rolling sounds. Teehee Wala, it just made me smile. It is fun being around happy people; nakakahawa din even if you’re not really happy high yourself.

Love as a Choice

Last Saturday, since I was too impatient to wait at home for my friends’ call or sms if I could proceed to the hotel that they will check in, I decided to lurk around the shelves of NBS and Fully Booked at Shangri-la. I’m hoping to find a lighter read than the Lord of the Rings that I’ve been mulling over if I should read again; there’s just too much going on in my head for the past months that there’s no point filling it further up with a too serious of a book read.

But, really, I just weird myself out like this:

A book on the best seller’s table caught my eye. It was placidly stocked-displayed there bearing these words on the cover:

If you can’t forget the one who got away, can you…
Love the One You’re With
Emily Griffin

And yes I bought it, simply because, I would like to make myself believe this, it falls just about right on the price that I’m willing to shell out on a new book.

I liked it. It was the easy read that I was hoping for. It was about this newly wed girl who met her ex-boyfriend years later to which she was not quite over yet and her coming to terms with her feelings that arose from that encounter. I like how she rationalize what she’s feeling and how she battles on how to act on it.

But I guess what made decide that I liked it revolved around this sentence:

Love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way.

Aw. Hate it. Haha

And now I’m done with it, I’m hoping I could get hold of my copy of The Time Traveler’s Wife. I really love that story.

Booo to sappy comedic stories. I hate being a romantic at heart.

100 Must Reads for the Serious Reader

Just a blog meme.

:)

Most of the books I marked as read, I couldn’t even remember the story. I’m a pop reader. Just as long as someone says the book is good, I’ll read it. Or if its in the best seller’s corner, I’ll buy it. Haha I can stand a poorly written book or a bad story plot more than a good telenovela or reality show.

Guess I’ll try to complete this list just for the lack of any new recommended reads.
